Specifically, it needs info on canon Pokémon and Novelties added after Gen VI.

Different weather types constitute a family of effects that can influence a variety of site mechanics on GPX+. Introduced in late 2010, the weather "affecting" the site is represented as a small icon in the Navigation Bar. The weather can change throughout the day, affecting the growth of different types of Pokémon and eggs and providing advantages and disadvantages to battles in the Vs. Seeker. Except under particular circumstances, weather affects all users equally.

Weather Effects[]

The table below shows the icons used for each weather type, the description that accompanies it (by hovering over the icon with the mouse), and the types into which the weather can change.

Weather can influence eggs and Pokémon alike. Certain weather types will slow the growth of eggs by lowering the amount of maturity obtained from views or interactions; conversely, other weather types increase the maturity obtained by eggs. In the Vs. Seeker, certain types obtain an advantage from certain weather types, while others may be penalized; for example, under Sunny weather conditions, a Fire or Grass type would be at a slight advantage over non-Fire or Grass type opponents, while Ice, Dark, Ghost, and Water types would be similarly disadvantaged.

A few other site mechanics are influenced by certain types of weather. The chances of finding items randomly throughout the site can either be increased or decreased depending on the weather condition. Foggy weather prevents users from efficiently feeding proper berries to Pokémon by replacing the sprites with Enigma Berries and randomizing their order on each Pokémon's page. Finally, as shown in greater detail below, certain Pokémon can only evolve or change form if the weather is of a particular type; in general, this is done to offset the inability of GPX+ to mimick game evolution mechanics such as trading or leveling up with a particular move.

The weather conditions have a chance to change every hour at a certain minute marker. The table below shows which weather conditions can succeed the previous one if a change does occur.

List of different weather types[]

Icon Name Description Next Weather(s)
Sunny Sunny This weather type boosts Fire and Grass types, raises maturity for eggs, and penalizes Ice, Dark, Ghost, and Water types. Clear, Windy, Cloudy
Clear Clear Everything is normal. Sunny, Windy, Cloudy, Snow
Windy Windy This weather type boosts Flying types, penalizes Bug types, and increases chances of finding an item. Sunny, Clear, Sandstorm
Sandstorm Sandstorm This weather type boosts Rock, Ground, and Steel types, penalizes Electric and Poison types, and lowers chances of finding an item (unless you have an Item Finder). Sunny, Windy
Cloudy Cloudy Everything is normal. Sunny, Foggy, Rain, Thunderstorm
Foggy Foggy This weather type boosts Ghost, Dark, and Bug types, hides berry types from view. Clear, Cloudy
Rain Rain This weather type boosts Water and Poison types, penalizes Fire, Rock, Ground, and Steel types, and increases chances of finding an item. Foggy, Thunderstorm, Snow
Thunderstorm Thunderstorm This weather type boosts Electric and Dragon types, and penalizes Flying types. Clear, Cloudy, Foggy, Rain
Snow Snow This weather type boosts Ice types, penalizes Grass types, and lowers maturity for eggs. Cloudy, Hail, Sunny
Hail Hail This weather type penalizes Dragon types, and lowers chances of finding an item (unless you have an Item Finder). Cloudy, Foggy, Snow
Aurora Aurora Nobody knows what mystical effects this holds. Clear

Aurora[]

The Aurora weather condition largely replaces the old Mystery Counter Critical Mass effects: interaction point increases, maturity gains, and maximum Shelter grabs are multiplied by 1.25. The Shop receives a 15% discount and the backroom is closed. Aurora weather also prevents all other weather effects from occuring throughout the day, and allows any and all evolutions and form changes. After reset, the weather will become Clear.

List of Weather-Based Evolutions and Form Changes[]

On November 7, 2010, Big Bidoof modified the evolution/form change requirements for certain Pokémon to include particular weather conditions. Unlike the additional requirements listed below, an Eviolite cannot be used to bypass the weather requirement.

  2. 2.0 2.1 Since they do not have a "base form", Deoxys and Sawsbuck can only form change under specific weather conditions.
  3. 3.0 3.1 3.2 3.3 These forms are treated as evolutions and thus cannot return to the previous form.
