Ditto is a Normal-type, Common-rarity Pokémon. It does not evolve into or from any Pokémon, and has no Novelty forms. Ditto is uniquely known for being one of the more sought-after Pokémon on GPX+, so much so that an Exploration was created to make obtaining one - and subsequently Shiny Hunting for one - much more simple.
Notoriety[]
When GPX+ was first launched, Ditto was classfied as a Rare Pokémon. Paired with its inability to breed more of itself, this made many people consider it is considered one of the most difficult to obtain on GPX+. Fewer than 300 were known to exist from the Lab, while Big Bidoof produced at least 100 on his own and distributed them in the shelter. As a result, many individuals could not complete the Kanto Master Achievement, much to their consternation.
The administration eventually took the concerns of the userbase to heart and implemented a few changes to make Ditto more easily accessible. First, after some deliberation, its rarity was changed to Common[citation needed], allowing the Lab to produce more of its eggs, although the exact numbers are not known. Secondly, on February 8, 2012, the Transforming the Heart Exploration was launched, providing another method to obtain the Pokémon relatively hassle-free.
As in the video games, Ditto can breed with any Pokémon with an egg group, producing eggs solely of that Pokémon's species. Despite this highly-valued asset, however, breeding with Ditto is not as effective as pairing two Pokémon of the same evolutionary family; it will always breed the fewest number of eggs and cannot ever reach the highest Breeding compatibility.
Unconfirmed Information[]
Although Ditto has become far less prized and much more common as a result of the above changes, some aspects of its previous classification are still believed to be in effect.
- Availability: Purportedly, only 7 or 8 Ditto eggs are produced in the Lab every day.
- Anti-hoarding measures: It was previously believed that, upon obtaining a Ditto Egg and hatching it, users would never be able to see one in the Lab or Shelter again. Currently these restrictions have been lifted, and the eggs are once again freely available from both sections (including the Safari Zone).
